Faced with power shortages, land scarcity, and lengthy construction timelines for traditional facilities, countries find their ambitions in artificial intelligence and the digital economy constrained. This turn towards smaller, prefabricated units is not just about technical efficiency; it gets to the heart of a deeper challenge in infrastructure development across ASEAN: the execution of complex, multi-sector projects.

The Regional Capacity Crunch

The demand for data processing and storage in Southeast Asia is expanding at a relentless pace. This growth is a direct consequence of the region's rapid digitalization, e-commerce adoption, and burgeoning AI ecosystems. However, the traditional method of building hyperscale data centers- massive, power-hungry warehouses of servers- is hitting significant roadblocks.

In established hubs like Singapore, land and power are finite and subject to strict government oversight. In emerging locations, the challenge is often the inverse; land may be available, but the utility and connectivity infrastructure is not yet robust enough to support a hyperscale facility's demands.
