Historically, Dawei has suffered from repeated financing bottlenecks, shifting political priorities, and persistent operational uncertainty. Logistics operators and regional planners should watch whether Thailand matches Myanmar's announcement with formal state backing and funding, or if the project remains a symbolic push by the military government.
