Securing Power in Singapore Demands Strict Execution Speed

Securing 50 megawatts under Singapore's second Data Center Call for Application reinforces the country's position as a primary digital infrastructure hub. Because power allocations in the state are strictly managed, securing capacity provides a distinct operational advantage. However, because the allocation is provisional, the immediate focus turns to execution and regulatory compliance.

To finalize the build in Jurong Town, Digital Realty must now satisfy local grid, environmental, and site development parameters. What typically slows projects at this stage is translating a provisional regulatory approval into firm power agreements, civil works schedules, and long-lead equipment procurement without inflating capital costs.

For investment committees, the takeaway is that securing capacity in Southeast Asia's core markets is only half the battle. Capital allocation models must account for the operational hurdles between receiving a provisional power quota and achieving final facility commissioning.
